My cozy afghan is done... I actually like it better than I thought I would. It kind of came together "as I went". The cream stripes came about because I realized - after I got home from the store - that I did not buy enough of the variegated yarn (Lion Brand Homespun in Sierra) to make the size I wanted. (Ugh! So frustrating...) So I ended up adding the cream stripes (Lion Brand Homespun in Deco), with some cable stitch stripes across for a bit of of texture. At first I thought the cabling would look odd and out of place, but I have to admit I like the finished product.
I started this, I believe, the last weekend in October, and worked on it on and off - between other projects. It was actually a great "sit on the couch in front of the TV and relax" project... no pattern to follow... just a nice, rhythmic half double crochet stitch through most of it - with a fairly simple cable stitch in between to keep things interesting.
I find it kind of awkward taking pictures of afghans... where to place, how to drape?

Here's me getting artsy - a shot with some interesting shadows from the window panes...

And draped over the back of my couch...

And I have to admit that I starting making this with the intention of giving it as a gift, but it matches my living room "decor" (and I use that term very, very loosely!) quite well. :)
