I've been busy (with both good things and sad things) and not feeling very creative lately.
However, I am getting out of my funk. Really. My life is calming down (summer slow-down?), and I am feeling more of a spark lately. I even picked up my crochet hook the other night for the first time in a very long time. (Well, hello Beast - you are still there?)
May and June have held a lot of milestone events for me. My hubby and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. I went to Atlanta to help my sister celebrate her 40th birthday. My lovely grandmother passed away at the age of 92. :(
And... my mother visited from Atlanta. My sister saw our new house for the first time. I got to spend the day with my father on both his birthday AND Father's Day (first time that has happened in about 20 years!) And my hubby and I took a 10 day trip to Hawaii.
Someone told me recently that Hawaii changes you, and - even though it's a bit cheesey - I kind of have to agree. It was never a place that I had a strong desire to go to (perhaps because of the horrendously long plane ride from the east coast?), but now that I've been I am so thankful. I really kind of feel like I am heading into a new phase of my life, and our trip was definitely a part of that.
Here are some pics from the trip. We went to both Oahu and Kauai.
This is the view from our hotel room in Waikiki. Pacific Ocean on one side, Mt. Olympus on the other.
Hawaiiian monk seal sleeping on the beach! We saw several.
Glass Beach, Kauai.
Snorkeling in Kauai. (Wish I was there right now.)
Kauai = Heaven.
The beach at the resort in Kauai.
Yes, it was that lovely.
