If you know me and/or have been reading this blog occasionally, (if so, thank you!) - you know that I love big crochet afghans, and I love making big crochet afghans. But I also get bored easily so I usually have several projects going on at once. And - I also love crocheting with different colors.
My big project lately has been my seafoam afghan, and I am making a final push to get it done by Christmas. But, a girl can only handle so much seafoam, you know?
I've been craving other colors lately. Lots of colored, soft, and cottony yarn.
So I was thinking - a granny square a day! For a year! 365 colorful, wonderful granny squares!
Then I thought, no. First of all, I do have a life outside of crochet. I have to work full-time. And sleep. And walk Patrick and be married and have responsibilities and "stuff". And I just knew that I would eventually fall behind on the ambitious "one-a-day!" plan, and feel bad about failing and/or - be resentful or (gasp) sick of granny squares. And I do love granny squares and don't want that to happen. So I've decided to have a goal, but keep it manageable and fun.
A granny square a week it is, then.
And in my first week I made three squares!
I decided to go with a traditional granny square pattern (it really is the definition of a "granny square" after all), and decided on a color pattern. (Colors: A>B>C>A>C>C>B) I do want to end up with a gorgeous blanket (or two or three) by the time the year is done.
Now if I can just get over my "granny square joining anxiety", I'll be all good. But I'll deal with that later, maybe when I have a larger stack of grannies.
