I've been somewhat obsessed with cotton yarns lately... I've absolutely fallen in love with the Lion Brand LB Collection Cotton Bamboo yarns. I bought all eight colors available and it is SO soft and silky and easy to work with. Occasionally a bit splitty but I can live with that. Overall, very good quality for the price.
Last week I splurged and ordered seven skeins of some Rowan Handknit Cotton yarn (pictured below...) Oh boy. While not as soft and silky as the LB Cotton Bamboo - the Rowan Handknit is a very, very soft 100% cotton. I would love, love, love to make an entire afghan with this yarn. (Might be a bit on the pricey side, however, as I like my afghans nice and big.) But it really is a joy to work with. Not splitty at all. I used a G hook to make a few grannies (yes, I used my new Kollage Square Hook! reviews to come...)
I still have no idea what I will end up using this yarn for. Perhaps a multi-colored scarf (I've so been there with those recently, though), or a wavy afghan (again, the cost! must be BIG), or maybe a smaller, detailed granny square blanket (or scarf?)
These grannies are probably headed to the Land of Lost Squares... but they were a lot of fun to make!
